How do I submit a script?

We accept all our film submissions through FilmFreeway. To submit your film, just click here. Be sure to read all rules and terms here before submitting a film.

Do you accept screenplays through snail mail?

Unfortunately, we do not. All screenplays must be submitted in PDF form via FilmFreeway.

What are your categories?

We have one submission category

1. Short Film Screenplays can be between 5-30 pages in length.

What are the deadlines and prices?

Deadline:      Feb 28th 2019


Am I allowed to submit more than one project?

Unfortunately, No. We encourage filmmakers to select their strongest project. You are, however, eligible to hold a different role on another applicant’s project.

If my project is selected will it screen at the PressPlay Film Festival?

Yes. If selected as the winner of the competition it will be premiered at the PPFF19′.

Are documentaries or feature film screenplays eligible?

Yes. As long as they meet the requirements all films are eligible.

When will I know if I won?

All applicants will be notified via email of the Top 3 finalists on March 8th, 2019

Do I need a full script or is a treatment sufficient?

A completed script is mandatory. The script should be considered ready to go into pre-production

Does PressPlay Film Festival look for certain types of films?

The scripts must meet the criteria that was given under the Rules And Terms page. The projects are selected with the intention of supporting working filmmakers who come from communities underrepresented in the film industry and whose projects are ready to go into production in 2019.

Is PressPlay Film Festival open to filmmakers from around the world?


Can the winning filmmaker receive any additional financing or funding?


Does PressPlay or Rent-A-Studio own the rights to my screenplay if it is selected?

The filmmaker will own the film rights. However, they will agree to provide a royalty-free license to Rent-A-Studio on an exclusive basis for a 5-year period (the “License Period”). At any time during the 5-year license period, PressPlay may elect to distribute the film to third parties. For distributions on third-party platforms, the filmmaker will agree to a revenue share of fifty percent (50%) with the remaining fifty percent (50%) going to Rent-A-Studio. This 50/50 ratio will be based off of revenues remitted from revenue and by the third party to Rent-A-Studio

Will, and when, will the rights be reverted back to the filmmaker?

Upon expiration of the 5-year license period, all rights, including to all going forward revenue share, will revert to the winning filmmaker.
